Welcome to my world, where I’ve learned to #embracethejourney of discovery, challenges, mistakes, and change, with a passionate mindset, when I’m focused.

I’m in recovery for a lot things that I decided I had the ability to change.

Born and raised on a farm in the Midwest, I’m a creative who spent a lot years experiencing multiple cultures within the United States. I currently reside in central Florida on a five acre ranch in the Tampa Bay Area.

I love all kinds of foods and will try anything edible.

Though never having any children myself, I am the wife to a husband of 19 years (he married a mess … to say the least), as well as, the alpha / mother to the animals of the #Shematzfarm. Most of the animals we’ve been entrusted with are rescues who have been rehabilitated. Our spiritually adopted children, though many were once wounded and rejected, are regulars at the ranch and reside all over the world.

In addition to being an ordained minister, I’m a therapist (aka professional helper) that specializes in a trauma informed, cognitive behavorial perspective integrated with biblical principles that are coupled with experiential approaches for holistic wellness. I partner with the Holy Spirit, nature, and animals (horses, dogs, cats, chickens, fish, and cows) to help people learn about and to improve themselves.

I also integrate art into my therapeutic approaches and am a professional artist.

Although I ran track at Purdue University right out of high school, I’m an alumnae of Indiana University’s Herron School of Art and of Florida Gulf Coast University.

Founder of one of the first overcomer-led, anti-human trafficking, non profits in the nation, Beauty From Ashes™ Ministries, my mission since I recommitted my life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ on 10/4/02,  is to prevent, reach, and restore victims of sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking.

Most of the time, I have tons of energy and a short attention span, resulting in getting bored very easily, and manage what seems like countless thoughts and ideas at any one time.

This is a deeper look into those thoughts and my world.
